Budget Recipe: Chicken Fajitas
 
Ingredients
Fajitas
  • 400g chicken, cut into strips (£2)
  • 1 pepper, sliced (28p)
  • 1 large onion or 2 small ones, sliced (12p)
  • 1tsp paprika (6p)
  • 1tsp cumin (8p)
  • dash of Tabasco sauce (2p)
  • 2tbsp oil (2p)
Tomato Salsa
  • 3 good size tomatoes, finely chopped (50p)
  • dash of chilli powder(2p)
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed (10p)
  • 1tsp lemon juice (2p)
  • pinch of salt and pepper (1p)
  • Serve with tortilla wraps (69p) and cous cous (27p for 200g)
Total cost £4.19 - £1.05 each
Instructions
  1. Put the pepper, onion and chicken into a bowl with all the other ingredients.
  2. Stir well until well coated then put in the fridge for 15 minutes to marinate.
  3. In the meantime, prepare the salsa by putting all the ingredients in a bowl and mix.
  4. After 15 minutes, heat a large pan and add the marinated chicken to it.
  5. Cook, mixing quite often for about 15 minutes, or until cooked.
  6. Spoon your filling onto a tortilla and wrap it up.
