Greggs fans may have sadly seen the news that they will not be offering hot cross buns on their menu this Easter.
Aldi, being Aldi, has an eggcellent idea, so no one is disappointed.
The budget supermarket is offering Greggs customers a voucher to purchase up to 30 hot cross buns in stores.
Here’s how you could get yours.
Free hot cross buns at Aldi
To get your hot cross buns from Aldi, you must first be a Greggs customer.
To show proof, they’ve asked customers to email evidence of their Greggs app to freealdibuns@clarioncomms.co.uk.
Take a screenshot of the Greggs app home page, and send it along with your name and address to the email above. They need your address to know where to send the voucher.
Your name appears on the top of the screen on the Greggs app, as they want to make sure you’re a real Greggs customer.
If you aren’t a Greggs customer yet, it may well be worth becoming one.
As a member of their loyalty programme, you get access to free food and drinks promotions, plus other free Greggs offers!
You must be over 18 and live in the UK to participate. Full terms and conditions are here.
Aldi is offering just 1,000 Greggs customers the chance to get a hot cross bun fix with a free £5 voucher. The voucher can be redeemed in any Aldi stores across the UK.
They are offering the voucher to the first 1,000 eligible people.
A hot cross bun in Aldi is priced from just 19p, so you will get a lot for your money!
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said:
“We’d like to reassure hot cross bun fans that Aldi’s shelves will be suitably stocked this Easter – we even have enough to cover Greggs fans too!”
What hot cross buns can I get?
There is a decent range of buns you can use your voucher for.
They include the award-winning Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns (£1.25, 4 pack), and new Specially Selected Salted Caramel Blondie Chocolate Hot Cross Buns (£1.25, 4 pack), in stores now. Or the new “showstopping” Caramelised Biscuit and Jaffa Hot Cross Buns (£1.29, pack of 6), which land in stores on 16 March.
