Uber Eats to launch new Courier Pick & Pack service in the UK

by Ricky Willis · updated 19 June 2024

Uber Eats is about to make your grocery shopping a whole lot easier with its new “Courier Pick and Pack” service.

Soon, you can order your groceries through the app, and an Uber Eats courier will pick up everything from the store shelves themselves and deliver it right to your doorstep.

What is Pick and Pack?

This service is the first of its kind in Europe for a delivery platform like Uber Eats.

It’s already been a hit in the US, Japan, and Australia, so if you find grocery shopping a hassle or simply want to save time, this is fantastic news for you.

Susan Anderson from Uber explains that managing online shopping can be tough for shops, especially when they get busy. Uber Eats couriers can now step in and do the shopping for you.

This helps both small local shops and big supermarkets. During quiet times, shops can handle picking items themselves, but when it gets busy, Uber Eats couriers can lend a hand.

How does it work?

It’s very similar to how you’d usually order groceries through Uber Eats, but you get extra support and choices:

  1. Place your order through the Uber Eats app.
  2. A courier receives your shopping list and picks out your groceries just like you would.
  3. They’ll weigh fresh produce to match your order as closely as possible.
  4. The couriers use a special app to find everything quickly and ensure they pick the right items.
  5. If something is out of stock, the app suggests a good replacement.
  6. Once everything is picked, they check out and deliver your order.

The Uber Eats app has some cool features for this service.

While your order is being picked, you can add or remove items.

You can even chat with the courier about special requests, like how ripe you want your bananas.

When and where can you use it?

The Courier Pick and Pack service will start in a few UK cities in the next few weeks and will soon expand to more areas.

Keep an eye on the Uber Eats app to see when it’s available near you.

Why it’s a game-changer

More people are ordering groceries online than ever before, and this service makes it even easier and faster.

Uber Eats has already seen a big increase in grocery orders in the UK, and this new service is set to hopefully make your shopping experience even better.
