If you shop at Asda in December, this is worth knowing about.
Asda’s Christmas Scan to Win is a free game inside the Asda Rewards app. Do a qualifying shop, scan your app, then tap a digital present to see if you’ve won.

Some people win a prize. Some people don’t. That’s normal. The main win here is making sure you do not miss an entry you have already earned.

What scan to win actually is
Scan to Win is a free prize draw promotion for Asda Rewards members.
When you enter, the app shows you a present. Tapping it reveals the result of your entry. Asda says the winners are picked by a random algorithm, and the present simply reveals what you got.
The dates it runs in 2025
This promotion runs in three separate waves:
- 4 December 2025 to 7 December 2025
- 11 December 2025 to 14 December 2025
- 18 December 2025 to 21 December 2025
If you shop outside those dates, you will not earn an entry for this Christmas game.
The golden rule: you need £15 or more
To earn an entry, you must do a qualifying purchase with a minimum spend of £15 in one transaction.
Here’s the catch that trips people up.
Your shop has to be £15 after discounts. So if your basket comes to £16, then offers knock it down to £14.50, it will not count.

Skint Dad says:
If your total is hovering around £14, add a boring cupboard staple you will use anyway, like pasta, rice, cereal, or washing up liquid, so you clear the £15 safely.
Where you can shop (and where you can’t)
You can earn an entry if you shop in an Asda supermarket, including George items bought in store, or if you place an online grocery order through Asda’s main grocery website with your Rewards account linked.
It won’t work if you shop on George.com, and it also won’t count at Asda Express stores, even if you scan your app.
Things that do not count towards the £15
Even if you buy them, these do not count towards the qualifying spend:
- Petrol and petrol station items
- Gift cards and vouchers
- National Lottery
- Tobacco products
- Postage stamps
- Phone top-ups
- Pharmacy and NHS prescriptions
- Infant formula
- Third party concessions or products
- Online delivery charges and minimum basket charges
In Northern Ireland, alcohol is excluded too.
How to enter in store
This is the simplest way:
Shop as normal, make sure your total is at least £15 after discounts, then scan your Asda Rewards app at the checkout before you pay.
If you forget to scan, Asda says they will not add the entry later.
How to enter online
Online has one extra timing rule.
You must place the order, and make any changes, within the wave dates. Then it needs to be delivered or collected within three days after the wave ends.
Be careful with changes. If you amend or cancel the order so it no longer qualifies, you can lose the entry.
If Asda substitutes an item, Asda says you can still get an entry. If you reject a substitute and the order no longer qualifies, you may lose the entry.
How many entries you can get
You can earn a maximum of one entry per day during the qualifying periods.
So doing three Asda shops in one day does not give you three entries. It is still one.
How to reveal your prize (this is where people lose out)
Your entries show in the app under Your Games.
You can save an entry for later, but do not leave it too long.
Each entry expires after 3 days from the qualifying purchase. If you do not tap the present in time, it disappears.
There’s also a 15-minute rule. Once you start the game, you should finish revealing it within 15 minutes or it resets.
One more thing. The app can store up to 7 entries. If you earn an 8th, the oldest one gets removed.
What you can win
Prizes come in two main forms.
Cashpot money
These prizes add money into your Asda Rewards Cashpot. From the prize list, examples include small amounts like 50p, £1, £2, £3, £5, £10, £25, £50, and £100.
Once it’s in your cashpot, you can turn it into a voucher to spend on a future shop.
Money-off coupons and freebies
Some prizes are coupons for specific products or departments, and some include free items.
Coupons are usually limited to certain items, subject to stock, and they will show their expiry date in the app.
The extra prize draw: 25 people can win £1,000
Asda also says every entry you play goes into a separate prize draw.
They plan to pick 25 winners, each getting £1,000 added to their cashpot. The prize draw money is due to be added by 31 January 2026.
Quick fixes if scan to win is not showing
If the game is missing, it is usually one of these:
- Your shop came to under £15 after discounts
- You forgot to scan in store
- You are shopping at Asda Express or on George.com
- You already earned your one entry for that day
- Your online order was amended so it no longer qualifies
- You left an entry too long and it expired
Safety note: avoid fake “you’ve won” messages
If you get a random text or social post claiming you’ve won an Asda Christmas prize, be careful.
Scan to Win prizes are revealed inside the Asda Rewards app. If it’s not in the app, treat it as suspicious.
