Christmas dinner can swallow a huge chunk of your budget, especially when you’re hosting. This year, Sainsbury’s is pushing out a deal that can genuinely help cut the cost without cutting the joy out of the day. Using Nectar Prices and Aldi Price Match, you can put together a full roast for six people for £13.31. That’s £2.21 per person.
There’s also a meat-free version for £13.82, which works out at £2.30 per person. Both are available between 18 and 24 December for veg, and 19 to 24 December for turkey and other Nectar Price items.
What Sainsbury’s is offering this year
Sainsbury’s has combined three things to push costs down: Nectar Prices, Aldi Price Match and a temporary discount on turkey.
Their small fresh British turkey drops to £3 per kg for Nectar members during the offer window. When you build the meal using the items included in the deal, the full roast stays under £15.
This gives customers a proper Christmas Day spread, including the main joint, pigs in blankets, gravy, stuffing and the usual veg. The aim is to keep families from feeling priced out of the traditional roast without compromising quality.
How the turkey deal works
The turkey discount is what makes the whole thing add up. For Nectar members, a small by Sainsbury’s Standard British Turkey comes in at £3 per kg.
Based on a typical weight of around 2.995kg, the turkey works out at £8.99, which forms the bulk of the £13.31 total for the six-person meal.
Without Nectar, it jumps to £4.50 per kg, so you do need to scan your card or app at the till.
What’s included in the under £15 roast
Sainsbury’s lists eight items for the £13.31 feast:
- The discounted small British turkey
- Carrots – 15p (69p without Nectar)
- Brussels sprouts – 15p x2 needed (£1 without Nectar)
- Parsnips – 15p (74p without Nectar)
- White potatoes – 15p (£1.32 without Nectar)
- Pigs in blankets – £2.50 Nectar Prices
- Gravy – 62p Aldi Price Match
- Sage and onion stuffing – 45p Aldi Price Match
Even with all this, the price stays under £15 because Nectar Prices pull the cost of fresh produce right down during the offer window.
There’s also a vegetarian version using Plant Pioneers Meat Free Wellington and veggie trimmings, giving the same six-person meal for £13.82.
Nectar Prices make the biggest difference
This whole offer relies on Nectar Prices, which drop the cost of turkey and sides much lower than the usual shelf price. Anyone with a Nectar card or the app can get the discounts in store just by scanning. Online shoppers have them added automatically if their accounts are linked.
It’s worth signing up even if you only use it at Christmas, because the saving on the turkey alone is bigger than the time it takes to register.
How this compares to other Christmas dinner deals
Sainsbury’s isn’t the only supermarket competing on value this year, but their deal sits in the middle ground:
- Cheaper than building a full roast from everyday prices at most supermarkets.
- Slightly more expensive per person than Aldi’s “feed 8 for under £12”, but includes extras like pigs in blankets.
- Strongest for households who usually shop at Sainsbury’s or already use Nectar.
If you want convenience, quality and a clear list you can follow without wandering the aisles, it’s a solid option.
Who this offer is best for
This is a great fit if you:
- Already shop at Sainsbury’s
- Want a straightforward list you can follow without planning
- Prefer fresh turkey rather than frozen
- Need a reliable way to cut the cost of Christmas dinner for a small crowd
It’s also handy for smaller families who find the bigger “feeds 8” deals too much food or too big for their oven.
A small note on availability
Both the turkey discount and vegetable prices have strict dates and can run out if the store sells through. The offer only applies to selected supermarkets and online orders, not Sainsbury’s Local branches. Northern Ireland is excluded from Aldi Price Match products.
What this means for families this year
With budgets stretched and energy bills still high, even small savings matter. Taking £20 or £30 off the cost of Christmas dinner might not change the whole month, but it does take pressure off a day that can be stressful enough already.

Skint Dad says:
Small wins are what keep Christmas affordable. If a supermarket can help stretch the money further without cutting back on the big meal, it’s worth grabbing.
Final thoughts
Sainsbury’s has built a Christmas roast that gives families a proper sit-down meal at a fair price.
If you already use Nectar or you’re happy to sign up, this is one of the easiest ways to pull the cost of Christmas dinner down.
