Tesco is giving away free fruit for kids this summer

Kids eat a lot over the summer holidays. Snacks, lunches, “I’m hungry again” dinners… it adds up fast.

Tesco is giving parents a bit of a break with their free fruit for kids campaign, running in stores nationwide from 4–17 August 2025.

Here’s how it works and how you can squeeze every penny’s worth out of it.

What’s the free fruit deal?

It’s simple: kids get a free piece of fruit when they shop with you in Tesco during the two‑week promotion.

Tesco expects to hand out over 3.5 million pieces of fruit – apples, bananas, easy peelers, pears – enough to fuel a small army of hungry children.

There’s no minimum spend, no code to show, and you don’t need to jump through hoops. Just shop in‑store with your kids, and they can grab fruit for free at the checkout.

Why Tesco is doing it

Tesco wants to help families tackle rising costs and make healthier choices.

They’re also throwing in:

  • Clubcard stamps on fruit and veg purchases, which can turn into bonus points and money‑off vouchers
  • Clubcard Challenges – extra rewards for buying healthier stuff like frozen veg, beans or pulses
  • A brand‑new 5‑a‑day hub full of recipes and lunchbox ideas to help kids actually eat the fruit they bring home

How to make the most of it

  1. Bring the kids – the deal’s only for children who are in‑store with you
  2. Use Clubcard – scan it every time you buy fruit and veg so you rack up stamps and points
  3. Stock up on lunchbox favourites – Tesco is running discounts on lunchbox items and healthy snacks during the same period
  4. Check the 5‑a‑day hub – grab a couple of their easy snack ideas (fruit skewers are a winner) so nothing goes to waste

Final word

The summer holidays are expensive enough without the constant snack bill.

If you’re in Tesco between 4–17 August, let the kids grab their free fruit and load up on those Clubcard bonuses while you’re there.

Healthy snacks, fewer moans, and a little less pressure on your wallet, which is a win.
