Pringles Advent Calendar Being Sold in B&M

by Naomi Willis · updated 4 November 2019

Yes, yes, I know we’ve only just had Halloween, but the earlier I get cracking on Christmas, the easier it is to spread the costs.

I usually look to get a cheap choccie advent calendar for my kids. However, there are more and more fancy calendars popping up each year which are tempting me to spend more money.

2019 is no exception.

I’ve been doing a bit of window shopping in some bargain stores, and a few advent calendars have caught my eye.

B&M isn’t just selling the traditional chocolate ones but has loads of others too.

One that really caught my eye is a Pringles advent.

Now, this one only has 12 days, instead of the 24 we’re more accustomed too.

You don’t just get one flavour. You get to tuck into original, sour cream and chive, salt and vinegar and Texas BBQ, so you get a bit of variety.

The advent calendar will set you back £7.99 at B&M and should be available in all stores (not online, sorry).

You might think that’s a bit pricey if you usually spend 99p on a chocolate calendar, and I suppose it is.

Each small 40g tub of Pringles from the advent calendar works out at 67p each.

Sounds ok, but large 200g tubes are on sale in Asda and Tesco at the moment for £1.25, or £1.29 in Lidl.

So, you’ll save overall if you buy a few of the larger packs … but you miss out on the fun of opening up the advent calendar.

I also spotted Millions sweets advent calendars (at around £4), a tower Cadbury advent calendar (it opens from every side at around £7), as well as a Hershey’s advents calendar if you like American chocolate.

I asked savvy shoppers in the Reduce Your Supermarket Spend Facebook community where they’ve seen some decent advent calendars.

One member suggested ditching the chocolate. Instead, she gets the 10 books for £10 at the Works.

It’s been mentioned Homebargains also has several fun advent calendars, including an Ait Wick one.

However, lots of community members have mentioned they don’t buy a new calendar each year.

Instead, they invest in a refillable one.

You can get beautiful wooden advent calendars, like this one or this one, and can add small chocolate, sweets, or treats to each day.

This is a lovely tradition to keep with your family and a very eco-friendly way to do Christmas.
