It’d be lovely to own a Kindle, or an iPad, or any other type of tablet. You could use it to download all sorts of apps, browse online and read books but, not everyone has the spare cash to buy one.

eBooks themselves are cheaper than real books and I want to take advantage of being able to read cheaper (or even free) books.

Hiding in the depths of the Amazon site, you can find lots of free eBooks to download. We all love reading in my house and, if I had the time, I could easily read a few books a week. However, I don’t have the budget to stretch to buying them all the time (or the room to store them all) so being able to get hold of books electronically is brilliant.

You can get free eBooks that are either classic books that are now in the public domain, or sample books, or even books that have been put on special offer to build an interest.

Just because you don’t have a tablet doesn’t mean that you have to miss out and, without a eReader or tablet, there are still ways to read these eBooks, for free.

Free eBook Reader

Kindle appDepending on which phone you have, you can download the Kindle app and link it to your Amazon account.

Here are the links, depending on which type of device you have:
Apple
Android
Windows Phone

If you don’t have a compatible phone or would rather read the book on a larger screen, you can download the Kindle Cloud Reader straight to your computer (PC or Mac).

How to Download Free eBooks

Now you have a way to read the books, to get the freebies is quite easy. When you find a free eBook you want, click on the ‘Buy Now With 1-Click’ button on the right hand side of the screen.

It will want you to choose your billing address (don’t worry, if it’s free you won’t be billed) and, once clicked, it will be ready in your Kindle Cloud reader for when you want to read it.

Smashwords have ebooks, many free, that can be downloaded in the format of Kindle, Kobo, pdf and word document. I dip in regularly. They are self published books, so you have some better than others, but it is a useful place to have a look. hth
