Are you in a pinch and need to make money fast?

Getting quick cash might sound tricky, but there are some ways you can give it a go.

The success and speed may vary depending on your location, skills, and the effort you put in, but we have lots of ideas.

The key is to use the resources that you have, and to choose ideas that suit your immediate needs and circumstances.

How to make money in one hour

If you’re in a situation where you need money extremely quickly, focusing on immediate actions with minimal preparation is vital.

Here are ways to potentially make money very, very fast.

Cash in on returnable items

Return recently purchased items you no longer need or can do without.

Collect and return recyclable items that offer a deposit return in your area.

Sell unused gift cards

Some websites or local exchange services offer cash for gift cards.

You might not get full value, but it’s quick money.

Ask for an advance on your paycheck

Some employers offer the option for an advance on your next paycheck.

This could provide immediate funds without the need to borrow – with interest – from elsewhere.

Bear in mind that you will get less pay the following month, so be careful not to overstretch yourself and get caught in a trap.

Cash in loyalty points

If you have points from loyalty programs (I’m thinking more about credit cards here), some allow you to convert these points into vouchers or cash quickly.

But, even with supermarket loyalty card schemes, you can use the points with some of them as cash to spend in store.

In a pinch, you could always buy something using the points and then resell it elsewhere for cash.

Street performance

If you have a talent for music, dance, or performance art, busking in public areas can get instant cash.

Make sure that you’re aware of local regulations.

Offer immediate services

If you have a network of friends, family, or neighbours, offer on-the-spot services like lawn mowing, car washing, dog walking, and snow shovelling, depending on the time of year.

Post a quick ad on local community boards offering to do odd jobs for cash. Your local Facebook group would be a great place for this.

Offer express delivery services

If you have a bicycle, motorcycle, or car offering quick delivery services for local businesses or through courier apps, you can pay out the same day.

Offer to queue for others

For events or product releases, people may pay for you to queue in their place.

Borrow from friends or family

Although not earning money, borrowing from someone you trust can be a fast solution. Be sure to discuss repayment terms clearly to avoid any misunderstandings.

Redeem bottle deposits

If your area has a bottle deposit scheme, collecting and returning bottles and cans can start you earning.

However, while this is still being rolled out across the UK, they usually provide vouchers to spend in store rather than cash. But it’s helpful if you’re after money for food.

Turn to your community

If you need money for food, ask your GP, Citizens Advice, or a Sure Start Centre for a food bank referral.

Get in touch with community centres or local charities that offer emergency assistance.

These ideas have minimal upfront costs and offer the potential to get or earn money quickly.

Sometimes, the key is to find a need in your community and offer a solution.

Whether it’s a skill you already have or a simple service that people are willing to pay for, there are plenty of opportunities to make money in a short amount of time.

    Heya.

You can sell on your fresh fruit and vegetables. I’ve often seen and picked up cheap fruit and veg from a local farming market every week this way. If you need money for food contact a community food bank in question to get the ball rolling. I also recommend seeing if close friends and family can support you here or not. Maybe they can maybe they cannot help you out. Good luck.

Your closest food bank can give you a three day parcel of healthy food instead. I always like to think that you can always ask for a urgent food bank referral. When I had no money to spare I begged other family members literally for free food. It never hurts to ask. Put in a polite request and see what happens as a result of your friendly inquiry literally. Ring up the community centres in addition to start learning a new skill. Ask for a free brochure to allow you to keep to make a informed choice on course options.
