Grab 2 for 1 cinema tickets with Meerkat Movies after Comparethemarket.com launches a new scheme to fill the void of Orange Wednesdays.
After EE announced it was ending its hugely popular Orange Wednesdays cinema promotion at the end of last year, film lovers all over the country went into mourning.
That is until now!
Meerkat Movies
Comparethemarket.com has given cinema goers something to be cheerful again with the launch of the brand new reward scheme Meerkat Movies.
Using the Meerkat Movies app, each and every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 April 2015 you’ll be able to grab 2-for-1 cinema tickets.
Existing customers of comparethemeerkat.com are able to benefit from the cheap cinema tickets now. All you need to do is download the app from the Apple or Android store and you’re good to go.
If you’re not an existing customer then you’ll need to head on over to comparethemarket.com and either take out a new product through them or use them to switch providers (remember that switching energy providers could save you £234 per year!).
Will it save you money?
The simple answer is yes. With the average cinema ticket costing roughly £7 (more expensive in some places), if you go to the movies once a fortnight over the course of the year you would save £182. Now, if you aren’t a comparethemarket.com customer, after checking their site, I can get an annual travel insurance policy for as little as £10.65 which leaves you still in pocket once you minus that off the cinema ticket savings.
Heck, even if you took out that policy and went to the cinema once a month, you’d still make a saving of around £75. Plus you’d have the added bonus of travel insurance cover if you’re planning to make a few trips this year!
Skint Dad’s Verdict
Ultimately if you are into your movies and regularly go to the pictures, then I would definitely take advantage of the Meerkat Movie reward scheme. If you’re a pre-existing customer of comparethemarket.com then great, you don’t need to think twice about taking up the deal.
If you aren’t a customer then I still think it’s an easy choice to make, especially if you are think about switching products or one of your policies is coming to an end.
Penny for your thoughts: Are you going to get on the Meerkat Movie train?

This looks like a fantastic deal. It’s also worth looking at the Club Lloyds account which offers 6 free cinema tickets every year. If you and your partner have one these accounts each and a joint account, and stagger the start dates, you can considerably reduce the cost of teenage cinema-going. Minimum income applies, but you can circulate the same money between the accounts. Terms and conditions apply, as ever.
