If you’re not able to get out to buy essentials, getting an online order may be your only option if you don’t have family around to help.
To make things even easier, Morrisons has launched brand new Food Boxes to help get you everyday essentials, without you needing to leave your home.
Instead of having to choose items individually, as you usually would with an online order, the Food Boxes have been made up for you, allowing you to do an order so much faster.
How do Morrisons Food Boxes work?
Create an account with Morrisons, if you don’t have one already, by entering your name, email address and password.
If you’ve already got an account, you can just log in.
You can then pick from a pre-made hamper of food and supplies to keep you going.
There are two types of box available – either a Meat or Vegetarian and you can order up to two boxes per order.
You can get next day delivery if you order before 3pm.

What boxes are available?
Morrisons offers many different food boxes.
When they first started, there were only two, but now there’s a big range for different diets.
The food boxes are more like hampers now, and you can get flowers, wine and all sorts! However, their actual food boxes can feed families.
5 meals to feed a family of 4 box
This food box gives you fresh and store cupboard ingredients so you can cook from scratch, without the planning.
For £30, you can feed a family of 4 for 5 days.
Meals in the box include Spag Bol, Veg Pasta Bake, Rosti Topped, Cottage Pie, Sausage Tray Bake and Veggie Chilli with Wedges.
British Food Box
Farmers are struggling with everything going on as they’ve lost a lot of trade from the food service market.
To help make up for the British farmers, Morrisons has launched a new British food box filled with British produce.
It’s slightly more expensive than the other food boxes at £45 but you get 10kg of premium food which would usually be headed to restaurants.
From the sale of each box, £1 is donated to the Prince’s Countryside Fund.

Market Street Square Meals box
This box comes with pre-made meals.
For £30 you get four different dishes, with eight meals in total, so it’s just a matter of heating them up.
This may be easier for someone who doesn’t have mobility/time/facilities/all sorts of other reasons to make food from scratch.
In the box, you get two adult portions of:
- Shepherd’s Pie – Minced British lamb slowly cooked in red wine for tenderness and flavour, topped with fluffy, cheesy mash [British lamb]
- Sausage & Mash – Succulent Cumberland sausages with creamy mash and a sweet caramelised onion gravy [British pork]
- Chicken & Tomato Pasta Bake – Tender chicken breast cooked in a rich tomato and basil passata, topped with a sprinkling of Parmesan [British chicken]
- Cauliflower Mac ‘n’ Cheese – A mix of macaroni and cauliflower florets served with a smooth, creamy cheese sauce
Market Kitchen Meal Maker box
With these boxes, you get eight ready means that you simply need to heat up.
However, you need to make sure you’ve got extra supplies in and you need to add your own rice, pasta or potatoes to complete the meal.
In the box, for £30, you get:
- Chicken Tikka – Tender pieces of chicken in a tikka spiced sauce, seasoned with a hint of cumin and ginger [British chicken]
- Keralan Style Vegetable Curry – Sweet potato, cauliflower and spinach blended with coconut and seasoned with a touch of cardamom
- Chilli Beef – Rich, smoky chipotle beef with red kidney beans, seasoned with a blend of cumin and coriander [Produced for Morrisons from British beef]
- Vegetable Chilli – A medley of sweet potato, chickpeas and kidney beans, cooked with a cumin, cinnamon and chilli spice blend
Are the boxes any good?
If you’re not able to get to the shops, and you’re not able to get a food delivery from a normal supermarket, these food boxes may be a blessing.
They will work out more expensive than if you could walk into Aldi or Lidl to pick up the same kind of thing, but you’re getting the convenience of having the food delivered in cool, insulated boxes, to your door.
The meat and vegetarian boxes come with enough supplies to keep the household going, so even though may seem high in price, do offer a lifeline.
But, I think the two ready meal boxes are a bit of a rip-off.
You get 16 ready meals which won’t be enough to feed a couple for three meals a day for a week, plus you need to add more food to the second box.
I suppose, if there are no other options, then it’s a way to get food, but please understand there are other options to get food:

Allergens and ingredients
There is going to be a lot of demand for the Food Boxes, so they cannot guarantee the contents of each box and are not able to provide allergen advice, the ingredients list or other product information online at this time.
But, when you get the box, each item will be packaged and will show the labels with all relevant information, so you need to check before you consume them that they are suitable for you.
