If you’ve been playing TopCashback’s Summer Treats game and thought your luck had suddenly changed, you weren’t imagining things.
A technical glitch meant the game was displaying prizes worth up to 75 times more than intended, and now the game has been paused.
TopCashback confirmed the issue in a message to members, explaining that the interface was incorrectly showing far higher prize amounts.
Some players reported winnings of £36.80 or more, when usually the game dishes out prizes of just a few pence.
The company said:
We aren’t able to award everyone the amount of prizes they were shown while keeping the game running fairly and being able to invest in future games and improvement.
In other words, those surprise windfalls aren’t being honoured.
Instead, the game will reset on Monday, 4 August 2025, with all progress wiped, including any prize draw entries.
Doubling the prize pot
As a gesture of apology, TopCashback says the relaunch will include double the prizes, with:
- Daily prizes increased from 5,974 to 8,699
- 1,000+ extra prizes worth £1 and above
- 88 additional £100 prizes
The idea is to give everyone a fresh and fair shot, with a bigger chance of bagging a decent reward.
Mixed reactions from members
Not surprisingly, some players are less than thrilled. Many spent the first days of the giveaway searching the site for virtual shells and birds, thinking they’d scored a tidy bonus.
On Facebook, users said:
- “Hope you honour those already won prizes.” – Laura
- “I’ve also won £36.80 and waiting on 1 shell. TCB should absolutely honour our winnings.” – Trish
- “Haha, thought it was too good to be true. Never in all the years playing have I won more than 50p!” – Sophie
Others saw the funny side, joking that people were shocked because they were actually winning more than 10p for once.
What happens next?
TopCashback says the issue has now been fixed, with extra checks added to make sure it won’t happen again.
The relaunched Summer Treats game goes live Monday, and the bigger prize pot will hopefully soften the blow for frustrated players.
