Get Paid £600 To Watch Quidditch in Florence This Summer (NO JOKE!)

by Naomi Willis · updated 1 June 2018

This isn’t something you hear every day!

The UK Quidditch team are paying two friends £600 (plus free flights and accommodation) to join them in Florence, Italy, for the World Cup!

UK Quidditch

The pages of Harry Potter have come to life.

Quidditch is no longer a made-up game from the mind of JK, but is now a fully-fledged sport, having first been played in 2005!

For those who aren’t fully aware of the rules, you need a broomstick, hoops, a Quaffle, Bludgers and a Golden Snitch.

It’s serious stuff!

The UK Quidditch team (yes, there is one) have been doing amazingly well!

After achieving a gold medal in the European Games, beating France, and taking third place in the 2016 Quidditch World Cup, in Germany, they are flying to victory as they’ve managed to get a place in the Quidditch World Cup this year.

GO, TEAM!

So, they’re heading out to the World Cup, but they need some help.

The UK Quidditch team are looking to hire two people to help out at the World Cup in Florence this year.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a sports enthusiast or even a fan of Harry Potter (although it may obviously help).

Having been training well this year, they are looking for people to work as Runners behind the lines to keep things going smoothly.

(Sorry, if you were hoping you’d get a chance to play.)

They are willing to pay for flights, airport transfers in Italy, accommodation, some expenses and £600 for the honour of helping out.

Duties as an honorary member of the team include:

  • helping with water
  • delivering messages
  • anything the coach needs
  • sharing their team spirit

Experience is not necessary, but you need to have lots of enthusiasm, be over 18 and live in the UK.

When is it?

Harry Potter Hogwarts Express

You’ll need to be free from 29 June until 2 July 2018.

On Friday, you’ll fly out to Florence, arriving late evening.

On Saturday 30th June, it’s day one of the Quidditch World Cup and the initial ranking rounds begin. You’ll spend time doing your duties as a runner and supporting the team.

The elimination and final rounds are on Sunday 1st July, followed by the Closing Ceremony and After Party.

On the final day, you’ll get to enjoy the sights of Florence and catch your return flight home (hopefully after winning gold!!)

How to apply?

To apply for this awesome role, you need to put your application in via the Airtasker site before midnight on Sunday 17th June.

They’ll be selecting the full squad the next day, so there isn’t much time!

Sound like a dream job?

Well, apply today.

Best of luck!
