Millions of households are struggling to pay for their home broadband.

But, needing it for work, stuff for school and day to day living, means that broadband has become a priority bill that can’t get cut.

Instead of worrying about the extra pressure on household finances, you can cut your broadband bill in half by £144 with a special discounted broadband package.

Here are the full details on the tariffs broadband companies aren’t openly sharing.

Broadband providers have cheaper broadband packages available to some 4.2 million households.

However, there is such a low awareness that they exist, with only 55,000 saving money on the packages so far.

Providers don’t usually include these social tariffs on broadband comparison sites and rarely promote the discounted deals to customers.

At the moment, 11 broadband providers including BT, G.Network, Hyperoptic, KCOM and Virgin Media O2, offer at least one of these specially discounted deals.

Instead of paying full prices, you can access a package that costs from £10 – £25 a month, giving you broadband speeds from 15 Mbit/s to 150 Mbit/s.

What social tariffs can I pick from?

If you receive certain benefits, including Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance or Jobseeker’s Allowance, get in touch with your provider.

Here are the best deals currently on offer:

FAQs

My provider doesn’t offer a cheaper social tariff. How can I save?

Ofcom is aware that more needs to be done and is urging EE, Plusnet, Shell, and TalkTalk to offer a social tariff to their customers.

However, right now, the easiest way to save is by switching to a provider who offers you a cheaper deal.

How do I cut down my other bills?

If you are with Sky, find out if you can access Sky deals for existing customers. Or, ditch them altogether by finding cheaper alternatives to Sky TV.
