Boots slashes the value of Advantage Card points

by Naomi Willis · updated 9 March 2023

Boots is changing the value of the Advantage card loyalty scheme, which sees you collect fewer points for each £1 you spend.

Boots is making radical changes to its Advantage Card from May 2023.

When you buy Boots branded products, they guarantee you’ll save 10% every time you shop.

£10 sign-up bonus available.

Swagbucks lets you earn rewards in your spare time by answering surveys, watching videos, and playing simple games.

If you fancy giving it a go, new users can get a £10 bonus when they join.

However, they are also slashing the benefits and changing how many points you earn.

Instead of earning 4 points for every £1, you will instead collect 3 Advantage Card points.

If you are planning a big purchase, it may be worth doing it ahead of May to take advantage of more points.

Advantage Card changes

It wasn’t too long back that Boots made a change, and now Advantage Card points expire.

And now more things are shifting.

Here’s a summary of what’s changing:

Boots advantage card 3 point per pound

10% off Boots own brand range

Boots says that customer feedback shows we want more value and instant savings. This is why they’re giving 10% off their own brand items to Advantage Card members.

There are over 6,000 products included in the value range.

If you don’t have an Advantage Card, you will pay full price for the Boots’ own brand range. You must present your loyalty card or scan your app at the checkout to get the discount.

3 points for £1

When you shop at Boots, you will earn 3p for every £1 you spend.

Previously, this was always 4p for every £1.

You can use the points to shop for free once you’ve saved enough to cover your checkout value (remember, you cannot pay part points/part cash).

If you previously collected 4 points for every £1, these are protected and are worth the same amount.

When will the changes happen?

Boots has announced that the changes will apply from early May 2023.

Student discount

If you currently get a 10% student discount, you will also get an extra 10% off the Boot’s value range too.

What’s not changing?

Each point collected is worth 1p to redeem in store. This is staying the same.

There will still be Boots Events where you can earn bonus points for special shopping occasions, including bonus points on your birthday.

You can also still use the Airtime Rewards app when you shop which can get you up to 5% cashback on your spend. This doubles and discount or points you earn.

Not joined Airtime Rewards yet? Use the promo code J3TNHCG9 to get a free £1.50 in credit.

If you are a member of the Boots Parenting Club, you will still earn 8 points for every £1 on eligible items. If you have a kid, selecting this membership in your account is well worth it!

Pete Markey, chief marketing officer at Boots, said:

“Customers want to be rewarded with on-the-spot lower prices and instant value.

“We’ve also noticed that Advantage Card members are now more frequently using their points to buy essentials instead of saving them up, we’ve listened and have expanded the scheme to give more instant reward, immediate value and lower prices.”

Boots isn’t the only place to collect rewards when you shop.
