So, there is some good news and some bad news.
The bad news is that Receipt Hog is closing!
The good news – there’s a new receipt app replacing it – STOREWARDS.
STOREWARDS app review
The STOREWARDS app works similarly to Receipt Hog, and you’re able to collect coins for each valid receipt you upload.

You won’t be able to transfer any Receipt Hog coins over after it closes, but you can earn up to 10,000 coins in STOREWARDS when you sign up with the same email address you used on Receipt Hog.

When does STOREWARDS app launch?
The app officially launches on 1 September 2020.
You can start “snapping” (taking photos of receipts) as soon as you have the app.
How many receipts can you upload?
Makes sure any receipts you have are clear and wrinkle-free. You will need to be able to show the retailer name, the details of what you bought, and the totals/date at the bottom.
Unline some other receipt app, STOREWARDS allow receipts from all purchases – not just food and drink.
You’re able to take photos of up to 5 receipts per day (maximum 20 per week) from any UK based in-store or online retailers.
Any receipt must be snapped within 14 days of purchase.
You can review the receipts from the app to look back on how much you’ve been spending.
The more receipts you upload, the more money you’ll make. Even opening the app daily gives you more rewards.
How many coins can I collect?
After you’ve been shopping, keep hold of your receipt and simply upload a photo of it into the app.
You can earn coins (which you can swap for a reward later on).
You can get:
- Sign up bonus: up to 10,000 coins when you sign up with the same email address you used on Receipt Hog!
- 250 coins when you use the STOREWARDS promo code – qgfjx
- Daily sign-in bonus: up to 100 coins just for logging in
- Bigger rewards: 600 coins for each valid receipt you upload
- Earn bonus coins: 1,000 coins for inviting a friend and an extra 250 when they sign up!
How much can I earn?
Being honest – this app is not going to make you retire early, but it can help with some extra play money.
I save the money up and use it for treats for the family that fall outside our usual budget.
It takes all of a minute to take the photo, so it’s like free money anyway!
When it comes to cashing out, STOREWARDS gives instant cash out.
You can change the coins into PayPal credit or Amazon gift cards.
Cashing out starts from 20,000 points which is the same as £2 in Amazon gift vouchers, and they’ve been giving away 10,000 points to start you off.
As there are a number of ways to earn, the credit on the Store Rewards app builds up really fast, so you may find that you cash out a lot quicker than you used to with the old Receipt Hog.
Receipt Hog is closing
The STOREWARDS app is taking over from Receipt Hog.
In a statement from Receipt Hog, they said:
“We’re sorry to say that Receipt Hog will be closing to UK users at the end of September. However, AC Nielsen Company Limited (“Nielsen”) has partnered with a new app called STOREWARDS where you can earn rewards similar to the ones you’ve come to know and love from Receipt Hog, including up to 10,000 bonus coins for just signing up with the same email address you use for Receipt Hog.”
Most importantly, they shared:
“Transitioning to this new app will not transfer your current coin balance, which you should just cash out in Receipt Hog as normal”.
So, before 30 September 2020 (be sure to set an alarm) head into Receipt Hog and redeem your coins.
This can be done for PayPal credit, Amazon vouchers, or a MasterCard Prepaid Card to spend on anything.

That’s odd. Double check there’s not an extra space going in at the end. You may need to remove the zero at the front of your number too.

I am also having the same issue, when i input my phone number a message comes up saying ‘registration closed – we could not find any account associated with this phone number’. Am I missing a step? I assumed I could simply download the app and sign up via there but it won’t let me!

For some reason this app won’t accept my receipts. It keeps saying ‘check your connectivity’ but I can take photos of receipts for other apps. with no problems.

I already have a Storewards account.I have just got a new phone and transferred everything over but when I went to open Storewards it said I had to input my phone number and country then it would send me a code to verify the number. I tried this several times but it never sends a text with the code

I believe they have temporarily paused new signs up as there was a huge influx not long after they first opened. Fingers crossed they allow new people soon

Dont bother. Sounds good and it was for a while but now if I scan more than 1 receipt a week I get a warning not to scan other peoples receipts only my own – which they are and if their software was good enough (as they tell me it is) it would tell the card number is the same.

Hi Tracey, I am still seeing the £10 Amazon voucher in my app. It says you need 95,000 coins to redeem it. £10 in PayPal is 100,000 coins.
