Take it easy this Valentine’s and let the supermarkets do the hard work for you.

With starters, mains, puddings and even drinks, you just need to cook and then do a bit of washing up.

It’s far less effort than cooking from scratch, which frees up time for other cheap things to do this Valentine’s, and much cheaper than heading out to a restaurant!

Let’s see what’s on offer from the supermarket dine-in ranges this February and how much they’ll set you back.

Best budget Valentine meal deal – Aldi

  • Less than £3.50 per person
  • Available from 9 February 2024
  • Vegan and vegetarian options

With prices starting from £3.50 per person, Aldi has the cheapest price for an at-home Valentine’s Day meal.

There are plenty of different love-themed options to choose from, with meat, fish and vegan/veggie options.

They’ve even suggested pairings with wine if you want to add to your meal deal.

Here are more details on what’s available in the Aldi Valentine’s Day Meal Deals.

Tesco

  • £6 per person in Express stores
  • £9 per person in larger stores (but more choice)
  • Available from 9 February
  • Drinks included (Processo RRP at £9.50 alone!)

Tesco is offering two types of Valentine Meal Deal for two this year.

If you shop in a smaller Express store or want to use their Whoosh delivery service, you can get a deal with a main, side, dessert, and drink for £12 (as long as you can use your Clubcard).

However, if you shop on their website or in a larger store, you can add a starter and pay £18.

Some of your choices include Tesco Finest Slow Cooked Duck Legs with Morello Cherry Hoisin Sauce, the Tesco Finest Creamy, Buttery Mash, the Tesco Finest Belgian Chocolate Cubes with Raspberry Compote and more.

See their full range here.

M&S

  • £12.50 per person
  • Available from 9 February
  • Lobster on the menu!

Check here for the full menu options, but in short, you can pick from a selection of starters, a main, a side dish, a dessert and a bottle of Prosecco, rosé sparkling wine, red, white or blush wine, passionstar martinis, or non-alcoholic drinks.

There are lots of gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and soft drink choices.

Find the M&S Dine In ranges here (which start from £7, if you want to try something different).

Sainsbury’s

  • £7.50 per person
  • Available from 7 February
  • Steaks, fish and meat-free options
  • Drinks included

The full details of the Sainsbury’s meal deal for Valentine’s have not been released yet.

While we don’t know the menu options, we do know that you can pick a starter, main, side, dessert and a drink.

The offer will run only in England at selected supermarkets and online (from 8 February).

Co-op

  • From £3 per person
  • Available from 7 February
  • Choice of options

Co-op has a few different options, depending on your favourite foods.

First up, they have a pizza and Prosecco deal for £10. You can pick from their Irresistible Pizzas and get a bottle of Prosecco for £10 (saving £4.45 as long as you are a Co-op member. If you’re not a member, you pay £12).

Or, you can choose from a main and side for £6 (saving £4.10). You don’t get as much choice as the other supermarkets, but you’re not paying as much. If you’re not a Co-op member, you’d pay £7.

Finally, from 7 – 13 February, they are running a steak and chips deal for £6, with members saving £5.35 (non-members pay £7).

The offers are available in-store but can be delivered if you live close enough.

Waitrose

  • £10 per person
  • Available from 7 February
  • Choice of cocktails or wine

At Waitrose, you can choose from a starter, main, side and dessert.

On top, you can also pick a wine, cocktail, or box of chocolate truffles, which will save you.

There is also a vegan range to choose from, as well as the usual foods you’d expect.

Look at what’s in the range.

Ocado

If you want the M&S meal deal, you can buy it online from Ocado starting 31 January.
