Are you aware that almost half of parents from lower income families in the UK skip meals to ensure their children can eat?
This is a heartbreaking reality revealed by new research from Aldi and shows the real-world impact of the cost of living crisis.
The research shows that financial pressure leads to parents buying less food than six months ago, with breakfast items such as milk, butter, and cereal among the biggest cutbacks.
As a result, Aldi has launched an Adult’s Breakfast Club initiative to support struggling parents and help ensure they are getting the sustenance they need.
Aldi will donate 10 tonnes of healthy cereal and 5,000 gallons of milk and milk alternatives to foodbanks and schools across the country, with the help of charity partner Neighbourly.

The Adult’s Breakfast Club will provide free breakfast to parents struggling to make ends meet.
An estimated 2.1 million people are using food banks, according to Trussell Trust, with an expectation that this number will rise again in the next six months.
Almost 2 in 3 parents say they’ll like to go hungry, so kids don’t have to. It has been found that breakfast was found to be the most commonly missed meal.
And, with Easter approaching, Morrisons has launched a free breakfast initiative where you can feed the whole family in their cafes.

While Aldi is stepping up their donations to food banks of breakfast supplies for adults, they have also doubled down in existing donations to local schools.
They’ve found that 31% of parents rely on children being given breakfast by schools.
The supermarket chain has donated over 25 million meals to families since 2019.

The initiative comes as charity professionals estimate that the demand for food provision has increased by 159% in the last 12 months, with 50% of parents regularly skipping meals to put food on the table for their children.
Aldi believes that access to healthy food should be a right, not a privilege, and hopes that the Adult’s Breakfast Club will help provide everyday breakfast essentials to parents who otherwise would be going without.
