Are you planning on shopping this weekend? Then remember to bring your Nectar card when you visit Sainsbury’s.

This Bank Holiday weekend you’re able to get an extra 150 bonus Nectar points when you spend just £1.

It’s not just a one-off deal – you’re able to do this 12 times over the weekend, meaning you can walk away with £9 in bonus Nectar points!

150 bonus Nectar points

To get the extra points, you need to make a qualifying purchase of at least £1 (there are a few usual exclusions, like baby milk, stamps, lottery, carrier bags etc).

You need to shop at Sainsbury’s between Friday 24 May and Monday 27 May 2019 (or have your groceries delivered between these dates). It’s not just on your food shop, but you can also spend £1 in a petrol station to get the bonus.

If you’re doing a bit of shopping, it’s worthwhile splitting your shop into three. You can get this 150 bonus three times a day! And, you’re able to take advantage of the bonus each day during the promotion.

Is it worth it?

Usually, you get 1 Nectar point for each £1 you spend so you’re getting a whole lot more for your money!

150 Nectar points is the same as 75p. On its own, it doesn’t sound like a lot. However, if you split your shop into three, that’s £3 spent and £2.25 back in Nectar points. As you’re able to use the promo multiples times over the Bank Holiday, it is worthwhile.

So you could spend £12 in Sainsbury’s but be able to walk away with £9 in Nectar points (same as 1,800 points).

Buy some milk each day, a yellow sticker bargain, or a couple of tins of tomatoes (doesn’t hurt stocking up on a store cupboard essential!) that add up to a quid, and you’re sorted for a bonus.

Remember – you also need to have your Nectar card with you when you’re shopping.

Spending your Nectar points

The bonus Nectar points will get added to your account within 48 hours, and then you’re free to spend away.

While you may be tempted to put them towards a purchase in store, or even at Argos or on eBay, it’s worth holding onto them for a bit.

Nectar Double Up usually takes place each year (and generally in the run-up to Christmas) so it may be a good idea to keep them saved, just in case you can double their value to £18!!

Cheap petrol

On top of getting extra loyalty card points, MSE has reported that there is also a cheap fuel offer running this weekend.

From Thursday 23 May until Tuesday 28 May, if you spend £60 or more on groceries (in one transaction), you will get a voucher for 10p off each litre of petrol or diesel.

You’ll also get a voucher if you have a food shop delivered between Thursday and Tuesday too,

The money off coupon would need to be used at a Sainsbury’s forecourt and should be valid for 14 days from the date of issue. You will be able to get up to 100 litres, and the voucher can only be used once.

It’s also a big year for Tesco who are celebrating their 100th birthday this year. They are running the Tesco Prices promotion with loads of discounts for Clubcard holders.

Exclusions

The terms and conditions on the Sainsbury’s site say that the following are excluded from a “qualifying spend” for the bonus points:

Spirits and liqueurs, first stage baby milk products, National Lottery, tobacco, gift vouchers, gift cards, travel money, Sainsbury’s Bank products, prescription medicines, over the counter medicines, postage stamps, savings stamps, mobile phone vouchers, phone cards, e top-up, pay point payments, carrier bags, charity products and car park tickets. Excludes Argos, Tu Clothing online, Bank and concessions in Sainsbury’s.
