Savings clubs are a great way to save up a little bit at a time for Christmas, without breaking the bank.

There are loads (really loads) of supermarkets who have a savings club set up.

Because they give a reward for saving with them, the effective interest rate works out higher (in some cases) that you can get with a bank savings account!

While many suggest you start saving early in the year, there is nothing wrong with saving even a few months before Christmas as you can still get the bonuses.

What’s even better is when a supermarket helps by giving an extra bonus to boost savings ahead of Christmas.

Iceland Bonus Card

With the Iceland Bonus Card you can use it for much more than saving money.

The card allows you to put money on it to spend in Iceland. You can load money onto the card both in store and online.

For every £20 you put on the card, they give you £1 for free as a lovely bonus.

If you’re going to be shopping in Iceland anyway, you may as well be using the card or you’ll be missing out on free money!

Save for Christmas

As a way to help you save more before Christmas, Iceland have launched a special bonus offer.

On top of their standard bonus, they are offering customers £1 extra for free every time you save £10 to your Bonus Card.

This means if you are planning to save £20 on your Bonus Card you will get the £1 standard bonus PLUS £2 as an extra bonus.

This chart makes it really simple to understand:

Iceland Bonus Card bonuses

You need to save any money before 29 October 2017 to take advantage of this offer.

All bonuses will be loaded to your card by 2 November 2017.

What else does the Bonus Card do?

On top of giving you free money, you are able to get free delivery when you spend £20.

You also get access to exclusive money off coupons and savings throughout the year. You just need to remember your card and swipe it when you shop.

Plus, you get a special treat on your birthday :)

If you’ve not got a card yet just ask when you’re next in store. You cannot save on the temporary bonus card however, if you register before or on Sunday 29 October, you’ll get an extended version of the offer when the card arrives.

If you’re looking for other ways to save for Christmas, or any occasion, the Chip app is a genius way to save money without it hurting (read our Chip app review).

It transfers a small amount from your bank into a savings account and adds up really quickly.

Alternatively, you can skim your bank account manually. Not sure how? Check out this guide.

I’m not sure what a ‘2017 Xmas Account’ is?

What I can see of that the bonus is added to your account from 2 November 2017 and you can spend it from then.

The £1 bonus does have an expiry date. If you don’t spend it, it will be removed from 2 November 2022.

That’s absolutely right Chris. it’s hard to forget about the benefits of loyalty cards and there seem to be so many of them. Try to apply again when you’re next in store.

Hi, this was a limited time offer for Christmas a few years ago. If they do the offer again, we will update it.

At all other times, you can get a £1 bonus for every £20 saved over a 1 year period.
